Live recordings from St Magnus Festival on BBC Radio 3

BBC Radio 3’s Classical Live will broadcast three performances from The Marian Consort’s recent appearance at the St Magnus International Festival in Orkney.

The broadcasts begin today, Tuesday 14 July, with Johannes Lupi’s Salve celeberrima virgo, followed by Pierre Certon’s Inviolata, integra et casta es on Wednesday 15 July and Josquin des Prez’s Benedicta es caelorum Regina on Thursday 16 July.

The recordings were made during this year’s festival, which marked its 50th anniversary. The Marian Consort travelled to Orkney in June for performances including Voices of the Western Wind and The Auld Alliance, continuing the ensemble’s exploration of rich and varied vocal repertoire in some of the UK’s most atmospheric venues.

We had a wonderful time at St Magnus and are delighted that these performances will now reach a wider audience.
